The Pyrenees Shire is located in central Victoria and nestled between bustling Ballarat and the Grampians gateway of Ararat. The Pyrenees offers all that you and your family need to make a successful tree change.
Why not take the challenge to make a change, and remind yourself what it’s like to have a great work / life balance?
The Pyrenees Shire covers an area of 3,500 square kilometres and has a population of 6,669 people. The Shire is less than two hours’ drive from Melbourne and approximately 30 minutes from Ballarat. The local economy is founded on private industries including wine manufacturing, sheep, cattle and grain farming, and construction. The Mount Buangor State Park, Mount Cole and the Pyrenees Ranges provide for a variety of nature based tourism activities which complement our food and wine sector
Agriculture and viticulture are the shire’s dominant industries but work opportunities can also be found in other fields such as public administration and safety, community services, retail, manufacturing, transport and construction. Some of our residents find their ideal job at nearby Ballarat, Ararat or Maryborough, which all within easy commuting distance of most of our communities.
